Selena Waite is the owner of Waite Psychological and Therapeutic Services. She has been practicing as a psychologist since 2008 and is a Licensed Psychological Associate, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and School Psychologist, with experience in both the public school system and private practice providing counseling, psychological evaluations, and psychoeducational evaluations.

Selena began her career in the public school system because she wanted to be one of the people who "saw" the kids who often fell through the cracks. After nine years as a school psychologist, she left the public school system to pursue her growing interest in helping children and families more directly — eventually discovering her love of working with children, parents, young adults, adults, families, and couples in private practice.

Selena takes a person-centered approach to therapy. She believes there is nothing inherently wrong with her clients — only things in their lives that aren't working for them — and she enjoys helping people make the changes they need to live fuller, more satisfying lives. She is trained in EMDR, the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Perinatal Anxiety and Mood Disorders treatment, Sand Tray therapy, Yoga for Kids, and Triple P Positive Parenting, drawing on a range of therapeutic modalities to help each client meet their personal goals.

Selena has also developed specialized expertise in psychological evaluation, with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD in children and adults, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and Specific Learning Disabilities such as dyslexia, math disability, and listening comprehension disorder. She is an NC DPI Approved TBI Provider and an expert in North Carolina's Special Education identification policies and procedures and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), providing special education advocacy and support to parents and to both charter and public schools. In addition to her clinical work, Selena provides supervision to Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Licensed Psychological Associates (LPAs), and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associates (LCMHCAs) working toward full licensure.
